Eccrine hidradenitis in a 15-month-old baby girl.

Abstract

Even in the absence of histological confirmation, the diagnosis of eccrine hidradenitis was done for the presence of nodules similar to those of scalp hydradenitis in infants. The most well-known framework is childhood neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis, characterized histologically by an infiltration of neutrophils around sweat glands. This framework is more frequent in patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other tumors, but a superimposable framework was described in immunocompetent children in the palmo-plantar region (2). Other Authors (1) described 10 cases of eccrine neutrophilic hidradenitis in immunocompetent children with an average age of 9.1 months; in 2 of these cases, the lesions affected the trunk and 2 of these children were cured with antibiotic therapy, confirming the possible infectious nature of eccrine neutrophilic hidradenitis.
