Lichen sclerosus with vulvar anatomic changes in an 11-year-old girl.

Abstract

Infantile lichen sclerosus is an uncommon skin disorder with predilection for the genital area. Spontaneous regression is frequent during adolescence. We present an 11-year-old girl who had been suffering from an inflammatory perineal dermatosis with intense pruritus since she was 6 year-old. At presentation, she presented atrophy of the genitals and hypopigmentation drawing a figure of eight, clinically consistent with lichen sclerosus. After 6 months of follow-up, the patient had no more symptoms. Then, the girl was lost of follow-up. The precocious recognition of this entity and treatment can avoid significant changes of the genital anatomy.
