Abstract

Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a rare, but potentially
severe drug reaction, occurring about 3-6 weeks after drug administration and characterized
by morbilliform skin rash, fever, lymphadenopathy, eosinophilia and single or multiple
organ involvement. We report a case of a 12-year-old girl, treated with lamotrigine for epilepsy
and developing DRESS due to this drug. Clinical and laboratory findings along with
some pathogenetic hypotheses are also discussed.
