Pyoderma gangrenosum associated with vitiligo? First case.

Abstract

We report the first case of the putative association pyoderma gangrenosum (superficial granulomatous form)-vitiligo. The patient was a 16-year-old Bengali girl, who was diagnosed on conventional correspondence remote consultation. Successful treatment of pyoderma gangrenosum consisted of dexamethasone and clofazimine. Moreover, vitiligo lesions did not progress further. The common nature of immune disturbance shared by both conditions prompts us to suspect the association is not merely fortuitous, accordingly to the interpretation given to other anecdotal associations of autoimmune diseases with pyoderma gangrenosum. Such patients living in underdeveloped countries will benefit from routinary use of telemedicine remote consultation.
