Abstract

The Author reviews the function of the sebaceous gland related to the pathogenesis of acne. Particularly, the Author reviews the relationship between the sebaceous gland and sexual hormones, the problem of the inclusion of the sebaceous gland in a complex regulatory neuropeptide program and the pro- and anti-inflammatory function of the gland.
