Abstract

The appearance of purpuric lesions in a newborn can be expression of a severe disorder. As a matter of fact, 5/18 newborns with purpura in the Authors' series died. Infections and thrombocytopenia are the most frequent causes of neonatal purpura (Presented in the International Congress of Neonatal Dermatology - Bari - Italy, September 24-27, 1998).
