Abstract

Dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis tends to spare the diaper area (Fig. 1679) till the latter is not withdrawn. In girls vulvar pruritus (see the previous chapter, EJPD, vol.15, pag. 768-84) is the most frequent disorder. In prepubertal boys atopic dermatitis can affect penis (Fig. 1681) and pubic region. The intense pruritus, the exudation and a personal or family history of atopy support the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis. In the dermatitis associated to HyperIgE syndrome the involvement of the inguinal and anal folds is characteristic (Fig. 1682). [...].
