Abstract

In the study population subcutaneous fat necrosis occurs in 0.05% of the newborns, prevalently in full term babies with perinatal problems. The lesions start between the 3rd and 9th day and in our cases are always multiple. The lesions usually regress spontaneously, although colliquation can occur. The clinical features are rather characteristic. The pathological findings are specific, whereas there are not characteristic laboratory investigations.
