Papular mastocytosis with small monomorphic lesions.

Abstract

Papular mastocytosis with small monomorphic lesions is by far the most frequent form in adults. The interval between the appearance of the lesions and the diagnosis is very long, usually years, because the patient does not give great importance to the presence of asymptomatic punctate lesions that are often interpreted as acquired melanocytic nevi also by physicians.
The history is not of much help because the patient does not usually report episodes related to the release of histamine, neither local nor systemic; often the patient is unable to report when the lesions appeared and whether they appeared all at the same time or a few at a time.
