Abstract

In order to establish the role of Pityrosporum ovale in infantile seborrheic dermatitis the Author carried out bacteriological and mycological investigations in 20 infants with this disease and 20 controls. She showed a significantly higher incidence of Pityrosporum ovale and S. aureus in infants with infantile seborrheic dermatitis. The Author concludes that further biological and clinical studies are needed to clarify the pathogenesis of infantile seborrheic dermatitis.
