Fixed drug eruption/Recurrent herpes simplex.

Abstract

Fixed drug eruption and recurrent herpes simplex are very different disorders. However, they share only a clinical characteristic, namely they recur many times always in the same site. Fixed drug eruption recurs whenever the patient takes up the specific responsible drug whereas herpes simplex recurs whenever the virus un­dergoes reactivation. However, these two different events in chil­dren take place almost always in the same occasion, namely a febrile infection of the upper respiratory tract. Hence sometimes the necessity of a differential diagnosis be­tween these two apparently so different dis­orders.
