Perioral dermatitis in children receiving budesonide inhalation therapy.

Abstract

Topically applied corticosteroids is a known provoking factor in childhood perioral der­matitis. In recent years inhalation corticosteroids have obtained status as first line therapy of asthma in children. We present two characteristic cases of perioral dermatitis that deve­loped during asthma treatment with budesonide using a nebulizer connected with a mask. In the severe cases treatment with oral erythromycin or topical metronidazole gel may be considered.
